What exactly is Paint Correction? Paint Correction is a widely used term for polishing imperfections, swirl marks, and scratches out of "clear coat" and automotive paint jobs. It is several steps above an "auto detail", and it's certainly not a quick “buffer job” with a high density polish cloth. Properly done paint correction takes a significant amount of time and skill to accomplish great results. Only experts in the trade should attempt to work on a vehicle in this way.
Our Overall Process
Paint Correction is a service used to remove light to moderate surface defects from the paint that are ruining the finish of the vehicle. What kind of defects you might ask? Defects like swirls, marring, light oxidation, buffer trails from improper polishing techniques, and light scratches. There are so many things that can cause these defects to end up on your paint. One of the biggest reasons is from not washing your vehicle with the right methods. Using harsh brushes at your local DIY car wash and even running your vehicle thru wash tunnels. The best way to wash your vehicle is to hand wash it yourself using proper methods or taking it to your trusted Auto Detail Shop.
Step 1: Prep Wash
That starts with a pre soak to loosen up majority of the dirt and grime build up. It then receives a thick foam application over the entire vehicle to help remove the loose dirt and grime from the pre soak. Then we power wash that off and apply another thick foam application and begin our hand wash using a 2 bucket method. one bucket for clean water and one for rinsing off the microfiber wash mitt. Wheels and tires also get a deep cleaning scrubbing away any crud on the tires causing browning and tire dressing build up. Wheels & barrels get agitated using only the most soft quality brushes and rags. Once the vehicle has been properly washed it undergoes a decontamination stage. Using an Iron fallout chemical remover we let that dwell on the surface to begin loosening bonded iron contaminants that will not come off with just a wash. It goes on clear and with the chemical reaction it turns purple when working. We then use a mechanical clay bar method to remove the rest of the surface contamination before drying the vehicle for the next step.
Step 2: Polishing Prep
This stage is crucial to getting the best results when polishing.
Now that the wash is done we begin wiping all painted surfaces with a wax and sealant remover to strip any oils from the paint to bring us bare paint thats ready to be machine polished. But before we even touch a polisher to the paint we make sure to tape off any sensitive areas like plastic trim, rubber trim, and matte or satin vinyl. Once that is done we can then start correcting/polishing.
Step 3: Polishing Stage
Finally we are polishing! At last we are now polishing the vehicle using a high powered Dual Action polisher and even a Rotary polisher. Depending on the package you choose you will either get a enhancement polish, correction polish, or Restoration Polish (extensive cutting & refinement polishing). This process levels out the clear coat on your vehicle to minimize and or remove defects from the finish of the paint. Leaving the vehicle looking more appealing to the eye! This process is always topped off with a protection of some sort like a Sealant or Ceramic Coating. This process in total can take many many hours. We usually request having your vehicle a minimum of 1-3 days.
